Author Guidelines

Notes to contributors

• By submitting a manuscript to Archaeology, Ethnology & Anthropology of Eurasia, the author assigns to the publisher without charge the exclusive right, for the duration of copyright under the current RF legislation, to use the paper (in case of acceptance of the paper for publication by the Editorial Board) on the territories of all states where the copyright is protected by the international agreements of the Russian Federation; including the following rights: to publish the final version of the article in the above journal; to distribute it and/or communicate it to the public; to make translations and edits of the article, and to distribute them to the public (with an exclusive right to use the translated and/or edited article in the aforesaid ways); and to authorize or grant licenses to third parties to do any of the above.

• The author (or authors) should forward the editors the signed license agreement on the right to publish the scientific article in the journal document link.

• Authors should submit the complete text in Russian or English. Authors should provide translations of mentioned geographic names and new special terms. English common names of plants and animals should be supplemented with Latin taxonomic equivalents.

• Please also supply the names of authors’ titles, positions, and affiliations; postal addresses in Russian and English; and e-mail, fax, and telephone numbers.

• All submitted papers should be organized as follows: Introduction, Data presentation, Discussion, and Conclusion. The paper should be accompanied by an abstract in Russian and English (not less than 200 words in total) and key words in Russian and English. The title of the paper (in Russian and English) should be adequate to the content.

• The submitted paper should be dated and signed by the author (or authors).

• The Editors reserve the right to make any necessary revisions, and to accept or reject manuscripts depending on the comment of the reviewers.

• Manuscripts should not exceed 40,000 characters, including spaces (20–22 double-spaced pages, approximately 28 lines per page) and illustrations. One illustration of 270 × 190 mm corresponds approximately to 6700 characters.

• The publication of papers is free of charge.

Technical requirements

• The manuscript (including the main text, reference list, figures and tables captions) should be provided in a Microsoft Word™ file (Windows version preferred. Contributors using a non-Windows version should ensure that any graphics or tables are compatible with the Windows format). A hard copy is welcome.

• Please use the Times New Roman 14-point font (approximately 28 lines per page). All pages should be numbered. Please avoid tabs; automatic hyphenation; spaces within words; blank lines between paragraphs; automatic word-processing commands (e.g. auto-numbering of references, paragraphs, footnotes and endnotes, etc.); macros; saving text as a document template; and read-only files.

• Measurements should be given only in the metric system.

• Text citations should include the author’s last name; date of publication; and page numbers (in cases of direct quotation, or references to dates). Full bibliographic references should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper. A bibliographic entry should include: author’s names and initials; full title of work; full title of the relevant edition; place of publication; publisher; date of publication; volume (number); the first and last pages (for periodicals); and the total number of pages (for books).

• Footnotes should be given in square brackets within the text and marked with an asterisk (*).

• The approximate location of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. A list of figure captions should be provided at the end of the paper, after the bibliography.

• Original line drawings, black-and-white and color photographs, and 35 mm transparencies (slides) are all acceptable. Only high-quality photocopies of illustrations will be accepted. Illustrations should not exceed 190 × 270 mm in size. Color photographs will be published from 60 × 60 mm transparencies.

• Electronic copies of drawings and photographs should be provided in .tif or .cdr formats (in CorelDraw, the Arial font should be used, and special symbols should be converted to curves). Black-and-white graphs, maps, and diagrams are acceptable. Scanned images of maps from cartographic editions are not accepted.

• Scanned images of color and black-and-white line-drawings, or black-and-white and color photographs (300 dpi) are acceptable. Raster should be deleted in reproductions from other publications. Authors should submit documents confirming that the rights of original publications are not infringed.

• In cases where the author is not able to meet the above requirements, he or she should send the original illustrations to the editors.

• A paper copy of each illustration is welcome. On the reverse side of each illustration, please pencil the author’s name, the short title of the paper, the number of the illustration, and indicate the top of it.

• The editors reserve the right to publish color illustrations in a black-and-white version.

• Graphs may be provided in Microsoft Word™ and Excel™.

• Each table may not exceed 190 × 270 mm in size, and should be printed on a separate sheet.

• Tables should be provided in Microsoft Word™. Each table may not exceed 270 mm in width and contain no breaks when continued on the next page.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one line spacing, font Times New Roman, 12 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).
  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
